Hannes Dufek ist Komponist. Seine Arbeit umfasst Konzertwerke, intermediale und grafische Arbeiten sowie Bühnenwerke. Wesentliches Interesse gilt dabei stets der Möglichkeit von Freiräumen, der Welterfassung mittels Musik im Zeichen der Freiheit. Seine Dissertation an der KUG (2019) zum Thema „Utopische Potenziale in zeitgenössischem Musikschaffen“ wie auch sein Engagement im Bereich Neuer Musik sind hiermit eng verbunden. So war er Mitgründer und lange Zeit Obmann des Ensembles für neue Musik Platypus (2006-2019), von 2014-2016 auch im Vorstand der IGNM Österreich, er engagiert sich laufend für Projekte im Feld, zudem war er lange Mitglied des Theaterkollektivs makemake produktionen. Sein Schaffen wurde mehrfach ausgezeichnet und gefördert, 2022 etwa war er einer der ersten Rezipienten des Arbeitsstipendiums für Komposition der Stadt Wien, kürzlich wurde eines seiner Werke aus 918 internationalen Einreichungen für das mise-en Festival in New York City 2025 ausgewählt. Hannes Dufek ist stolzer Vater zweier Söhne und lebt in Wien.
Hannes Dufek is a composer. His work encompasses concert pieces, works with intermedial and graphic components and stage works. He is mainly interested in the possibility of free spaces, in capturing the world through music in the name of freedom. His dissertation at the KUG (2019) on “Utopian potentials in contemporary music creation” and his involvement in the field of new music are both closely linked to this. He was co-founder and for a long time chairman of the ensemble for new music Platypus (2006-2019), from 2014-2016 also on the board of ISCM Austria, and is constantly involved in projects in the field. Furthermore, he was a member of the theater collective makemake produktionen for a long time. Dufek's work has received numerous awards and support; in 2022, for example, he was among the first recipients of the Vienna's annual working grant for composition, recently, one of his works was selected out of 918 international submissions for the mise-en Festival in New York City in 2025. Hannes Dufek is the proud father of two sons and lives in Vienna.
